Home remedies for snake bites

Important to note that snake bites can be a medical emergency, & prompt medical attention is always recommended.

However, in a situation where medical help is not immediately available, there are some home remedies that can be used to provide temporary relief before professional medical treatment can be obtained.

Immobilize the Affected Area: The first step in treating a snake bite is to immobilize the affected area to prevent the venom from spreading.

This can be done by wrapping a compression bandage or cloth around the bite area, but not too tight to cut off circulation.

Keep the Affected Area Lower than the Heart: Keeping the affected area lower than the heart can help slow the venom spread.

Clean the Wound: Cleaning the wound with soap & water can help to prevent infection.

Apply a Cold Compress: Applying a cold compress or ice pack to the bite area can help to reduce swelling & pain.

Use Natural Remedies: Some natural remedies may also help to reduce the symptoms of a snake bite.

Garlic: Garlic has been used for centuries as a natural remedy for snake bites. Crushed garlic can be applied to the bite area to help neutralize the venom.

Onion: Onion has also been used to treat snake bites. Applying raw onion to the bite area may help to reduce swelling & pain.

Turmeric: Turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties & may help to reduce swelling & pain. A turmeric powder & water paste can be applied to the bite area.
