Low Calorie Alcohols

Alcohol itself contains calories, so all alcoholic beverages have some caloric content.

However, some types of alcohol have fewer calories than others.

Here are some examples of low-calorie alcohols: Spirits (such as vodka, gin, whiskey, & tequila) are generally lower in calories than beer & wine because they are distilled.

A standard shot of 1.5 ounces of spirits contains approximately 97-110 calories.

Champagne & sparkling wine is lower in calories than regular wine because they are carbonated, which dilutes the alcohol & reduces the sugar content.

A standard 4-ounce glass of champagne contains approximately 90 calories. Light beer is lower in calories than regular beer because it contains less alcohol.

A standard 12-ounce can of light beer contains approximately 100 calories. Wine, particularly dry wines like Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, & Chardonnay, can be lower in calories than sweeter dessert wines.
